This unusual wooden Golden Retriever Jigsaw Puzzle, has been upcycled from reclaimed wood. This lovable dog would make a lovely table centerpiece or ornament for animal lovers. It would make a perfect gift for numerous occasions such as a best friend gift or birthday present.

The approximate height is 15 cm, the approximate width is 23 cm and the thickness is approximately 2.5 cm.

A piece of recycled wood was cleaned and sanded to enable me to upcycle it. The design was applied to the wood and cut using a Scroll Saw. The puzzle was then assembled and disassembled to ensure that all the pieces fitted together smoothly. Each piece was lightly sanded all around to give them a slight round over effect. It was then coated in Danish Oil and buffed to a smooth finish.

I am a firm believer in upcycling using reclaimed wood whenever possible. I often recycle the packaging I send out my items in.

I class this puzzle as an ornament, however this can be used as a jigsaw. Children should be supervised by an adult at all times.

Golden Retrievers are considered to be the 4th smartest dog breed.

Being a nature and animal lover I find it extremely interesting how nature adapts giving different animals unique skills.

This breed was developed in Scotland during the mid to late 19th Century for hunting Wildfowl. The toes on their paws are joined together by thin webs of skin making them great swimmers and they have 'soft mouths' making them great for carrying things without damaging them.

Today they are used as guide dogs, hearing dogs and medical alert dogs. They are even used with children with autism helping to keep them calm whilst doing tasks such as learning to read.
