We all picked out these fabrics and I think they work very well together, perfect for any little boy or girl. I love the safari themed khaki fabric, the dotty one just adds a ‘lift’ to everything and the white and green poplin adds a little texture for those little fingers. This quilt has been backed with a Kenyan Kikoi – lovely colours and a really soft fabric that gets softer and softer with time. This would make a lovely present for a boy or girl and fits a cot or toddlers bed – I’m sure the lucky recipient will grow attached to it and it will be a decorative and functional cover for their larger beds. This is a very ‘transportable’ quilt and can be used as a play mat, picnic rug, car cozee, sofa snuggle, pirates ship…..
The outer fabrics are all cotton and I have used polyester wadding which makes this very hard wearing. The squares have been hand pieced and I have machine quitted ‘in the ditch’. This quilt is made to be used and can be washed at 40 degrees centigrade, with a low tumble dry cycle until almost dry. I have washed this quilt once to start the quilting process.
