Full description
A unique and personalised keepsake for a christening, naming day, birth or first birthday. Created from recycled card and newspaper yarn with custom word tags taken from the paper. I will need advanced notice of the date of the newspaper to purchase it. Use of backated newspapers will incur an additional cost.
The star will be mounted ready to be framed in a 6x6inch frame.
The newspaper yarn is carefully handspun from hand cut, thin strips of newspaper. I have tried spindles/shredders, but I find that using my fingers helps keep the yarn fine as possible as well as allowing me more control over the colours and textures produced.
I also think there is something important about knowing the newspaper has physically passed through the hands of the maker, which transforms the bad news stories and makes them a part of your stories as you send them to your friends and family.
The custom words attached by golden thread to the piece are chosen by you to give you a personal and unique piece.
