Glastonbury Abbey was a rich and powerful monastery in Glastonbury, Somerset, England. Since at least the 12th century the Glastonbury area was frequently associated with the legend of King Arthur, a connection promoted by medieval monks who asserted that Glastonbury was Avalon. The abbey was suppressed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under King Henry VIII of England.
My family and I visited Glastonbury Abbey on our way home from a lovely Christmas holiday spent in Bude, Cornwall. It was a long journey home, so breaking it up with a Glastonbury stopover was an inspired move! My youngest son was still in a pram, so he and I stayed at the Abbey, while the rest of my family went to the Tor. This is just a small part of the Abbey - the property is massive - it's definitely worth a visit!This has been executed in watercolour pencils, lightly brushed over with water, then highlights pointed out with a fineliner. It has been worked on canvas, then mounted on card. It is in ACEO format, meaning it is 3.5 inches x 2.5 inches in size. Small but perfectly formed!
This is an original, not a print, and has been signed and dated on the back by me.
When purchased, this ACEO will come in a protective plastic sleeve.
All proceeds from the sale of this item go towards sending my daughter to the 22nd World Scouting Jamboree, to be held next year, in Skåne, Sweden.
