Full description
Lilac-coloured hydrangea blooms, and cream roses form the design for this very detailed brooch.
The background is a soft green fabric, which has been heavily embellished with several layers of leaves, and French knot buds, to give depth to the design. The roses and rose buds are embroidered in ribbon, and embroidery threads. The hydrangea blooms are stitched in a mixture of silk ribbon and embroidery threads. The centre, as yet un-opened part, of each flower is represented by clusters of French knots. The ribbon embroidery stitches used give relief to the design. This design is very detailed and the embroidery took several hours to cmplete!
Couched yarn, in a shade of moss green, frames the design. The brooch is reinforced by plastic cut from a recycled bottle, The back of the brooch is neatened with felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
