Full description

When I took these photos I noticed a wistful, faraway look in his eyes......

The fabric varies with each owl. I tend to use linen or upholstery-weight material due to its innate ability to fray; the fraying is an integral part of the owl.

It is stuffed with hollow fibre polyester and weighted down with a cotton bag filled with oven-dry, non-stain sand and the closure is then hand sewn.

The eyes and beak are handsewn along with some little stitching to enhance the face.

I know they are cute and loveable but unfortunately due to small parts, are not designed as toys and are therefore unsuitable for babies and children.

Each owl measures approximately - 30cms tall and 40cm in circumference.

Weight approximately 700g.

I've always regarded owls as mysterious creatures of the night and I now feel I have an affinity with them.

I returned their plaintive calls late one frosty, evening and was taken aback as moments later, through the still dark night, a pair of inquisitive tawny owls silently glided over my head and settled onto a nearby telegraph pole. They clearly wondered who the imposter to their territory was.

As with all my little characters, I aim to maintain individuality and uniqueness by altering each one in some small way. Although I designed them originally as unusual doorstops, owners have creatively employed them as bookends, paperweights and decorative interior design objects - purely for show!

I know you’ll have fun finding a perch for your owl!

Please note – vintage buttons and position of the fabric pattern will vary with each owl.
