A needle-felted panel has been embroidered with a profusion of flowers to form the garden design for this piece of art work.
Merino, and other wools, combined with mohair and silk fibres, have been needle felted to create a background with areas of vibrant colour representing different swathes of planting. A profusion of flowers have been represented by simple embroidery techniques bullion stitch, straight stitch, French knots and daisy stitch - all achieving a richly textured piece. I hope you like it!
The felted and embroidered scene has been stitched to a piece of ivory linen. This has been stretched securely over a piece of mount board. A ribbon hanging loop is stitched in place at the top of the plaque. The back is neatened with commercial felt - stitched in place. The first of a series, each one unique - both in background and embroidered detail.
