Full description
I made this star using washi paper which is printed all over with fans and temari. Because of the way the paper is folded, no two stars are the same. It measures approximately 2.5cm long and 3cm wide.
I sprayed the star with 2 layers of acrylic spray for durability. It is splashproof, but not waterproof, so please don't wear it in the shower or while swimming.
Paper is the traditional gift for a first wedding anniversary so this would make an ideal and unique present.
Temari are embroidered balls that have been made in Japan for many centuries. Mothers made them for their girls when they went away to be married to remind them of home. The ladies of the Japanese court would have competitions to see who could make the most ornate temari.
