I love foraging for colour in North Devon and Exmoor, in estuaries and river banks. I discovered this unique pigment several years ago on the coast and have been experimenting and refining the pigment since.
Biddy Black, a local name, was a working mine till the 1960's, the pigment was used by the military, Max Factor for mascara and as a rare artists pigment
