Inspired by a love of repeated forms and pattern, the individual fern leaflets are perfect examples of pattern making in nature. Working with the natural curves and bends of the leaves a calming flow, reminiscent of a gently meandering stream, emerged.
To create the original, each individual fern leaflet was ordered in size and curving nature, then hand trimmed with a craft knife to create the clean, rectangular outline of the design, before being fixed, contrasting the smooth natural curves of the plant against the hard outlined edge of the design.
