This decoration is formed from twenty-nine squares of paper that have been cut from an old London A to Z, plus one cut from a bright pink piece of craft paper. These have been folded and locked together into a sphere measuring roughly 13cm. Hanging from a lime and pink ribbon measuring about 20cm, this kusudama is finished with two golden buttons. Each kusudama I make is unique as I use recycled papers and different materials that change the character of the finished piece.KUSUDAMA A kusudama is a decorative ball formed from folded paper modules glued together - you often see them made with origami flowers. The word kusudama translates from Japanese as 'medicine ball' (kusuri - medicine, tama - ball) and these balls were originally used to hold incense or flowers, perhaps even being entirely formed from herbs, a bit like what the British would regard as a medicinal 'posy' of flowers. Nowadays they tend to be made purely for decoration or to present as a gift. Note: the design I followed to make this is a strong locking design, however I have added small amounts of glue where the segments join to make the kusudama extra solid. This item is handmade in England. It will be securely boxed and posted using first class recorded delivery.
