A little dark story, in a little dark book, in a little dark box!
One of a set of mini accordion books, tucked into matchboxes
My grandmother used to tell us this traditional chanted scare story – with safe cosy cuddle of course! We used to join in... but always jumped at the end; when after the last pause...
there was the * scare!

It was a fun way to enjoy a “safe” scare! With nice reassuring laughs and cuddles.
I’ve retold it in a mini accordion and tucked it into this altered matchbox, an interesting exercise in fitting “a quart into a pint pot” or an A4 page into a matchbox! LOL
The box measures 2.2 x 1.15 inches and is covered with batik dyed cotton.
The story is printed on lightweight card and hand illustrated with ink, wax crayon and pencil.
I can make more of these to order or custom, variation.
