Hello I am Tors Duce a textile artist. Welcome to my In Stitches shop of unique gifts & handmade cards.

I combine my passion for hand stitch, machine embroidery, knitting and crochet to create special, handmade presents and fun, stylish greetings cards. Everything is made to a high standard, so it is a joy to give and to receive or even as a treat for yourself.

I make everything myself in my home studio in Burnham-on-Crouch by a beautiful river near the coast east of London. I get a lot of inspiration from my beautiful coastal surroundings.

In my studio I am surrounded by the beautiful colours, patterns and textures of all the fabrics, yarns, threads, ribbons and buttons that I have collected over the years. Nothing gets thrown away, even the smallest pieces have a use. It is rewarding creating items that give new life to these fabrics and yarns to make items that will be treasured.

I especially enjoy free machine embroidery, effectively using my domestic sewing machine to ‘draw’ with the needle. I also enjoy the tranquillity of hand stitching. I have always loved sewing and knitting. I was lucky to learn these skills from both of my grandmothers. It was after I had to give up my career in London because I had ME that they became an important part of my recovery. I continued to develop my skills on various courses and I have now been making and selling my work for over 15 years.
